What is EPTG?

The European Playback Theater Gathering (EPTG) is a 4-day event that takes place every 2 or 3 years and gathers people interested, passionate and professionals of Playback Theatre. Each edition is held in a different European country. Some were those of Amsterdam (Netherlands in 2014), Budapest (Hungary in 2017), Sofia (Bulgaria in 2020 and 2022). This year, Salamanca (Spain) will be the host city coinciding with the 50th anniversary of this event. Organized by the Iberian Association of Playback Theater (AITP), created in 2022, and is open to participants from all over the world, regardless of their experience or background.

“Resilient voices: half a century of stories.”

The theme chosen for the European Playback Theater Gathering will be “Resilient Voices: Half a Century of Stories”.With this title the intention is to highlight two aspects.

In the first place, the importance of those resilient voices that learn from adversity and from their own capacity to overcome, and then transform pain into opportunities to change their own lives. From there, words act as a balm that can guide individual, group and community thinking, feeling and doing.

Secondly, with ‘half a century of stories‘ we want to honor and pay homage to the 50 years since the creation of the Playback Theater, and within it, to all the collective and community constructions that have been developed through local, national, world meetings, and also European meetings that allowed us to meet. And by focusing on the chronological perspective of the cycle achieved, to promote the celebration of the stories that have been told and represented in them.
