The 2025 EPTG
coincides with the
50th anniversary of Playback Theatre
As half a century has passed since its creation, we wanted to take a historical journey through all the past events. Below, we briefly highlight some key facts:
EPTG 2012 DARTINGTON (UK)
The 2012 EPTG was held in the United Kingdom, and the event saw many participants from all over the world, with workshops, public performances, and leisure time.
EPTG 2014 ÁMSTERDAM (THE NETHERLANDS)
The 2014 EPTG was held in Amsterdam, with around 300 participants from 29 countries. The theme chosen for the event and the home-groups was active citizenship. It was a wonderful, fun gathering focused on the importance of Playback Theatre for social change. There was great participation, and the event took place in a central, iconic location.
EPTG 2017 BUDAPEST
The 2017 EPTG was held in Budapest and was planned as a “decentralized” event, with several venues or locations hosting the program’s activities. It was inspiring and cooperative. The event included visits to Playback Theatre projects and communities, which acted as hosts, in different parts of Budapest and its surroundings. Additionally, as a hallmark of the event, many TP performances were held with companies from abroad and Hungary, co-creating together.
EPTG 2022 SOFÍA
The 2022 EPTG was held in Sofia. It was titled “Roots and Wings” and was organized by the Playback Theatre company “Here and Now.” Two gatherings were held, the first online and the second in person. It was also the first in-person international event after COVID-19. An incredible experience for everyone who attended!
